Hanging Man
This image was created in response to the topic ‘Hanging Man’. And this is also a complete my new idea for creative art photography. By seeing great inspirations like Sam Kolder doing vertical flip jumps all the time in their videos, I got inspired to do this picture.
This is one of my best pictures which makes my Instagram followers to think that it was edited or manipulated using Photoshop. Though it seemed so it was not manipulated photo. I’ve seen lot of creators make these kind of manipulations by using Photoshop, anyone with proper knowledge in a software like Photoshop can do a creation like this easily. So in here I wanted to do a creation without using any kind of post edit process other than the color grading.
When I posting this picture on Instagram I went with the caption “Explain this photo to me?” So people answered and most of photographer’s answer was ended up with one particular concept. I was expected that answer because the most popular concept to take this kinda photo is merging. In that concept, the dude lying on a stand( chair or table) and that stand is removed by merging photos in post edit processes. But again in that concept also we have to deal with some post edit processes.
Okay so let’s jump in to the concept I used here to make this photo.
After doing a 90° counterclockwise rotation you can see the actual scenario of this picture.
As you can see it is a vertically tied rope with a clip hooked in it. The boy tries to give that hanging kinda pose by holding the T-shirt by one of his hands while jumping towards the rope. This process was repeated several times to get the correct alignment with clip and the boy.
Gear
- Canon 80D with 18-135mm under Natural light conditions
Settings
- Exposure time: 1/2500s
- ISO: 4000
- F-stop: f/5
As this is a forced perspective photo it is a must to pop-up the subject to tell the proper story by the picture. So it is better to use a gear which can give good bokeh effect. Or otherwise you must blur the background and pop-up the subject by doing some post edit processes.
